Mobile development on Solana has unique constraints -- you cannot bundle a wallet directly into your app, so you need to use the Mobile Wallet Adapter protocol to communicate with installed wallet apps. Mobile Wallet Adapter

Mobile Wallet Adapter (MWA) defines how your app discovers, connects to, and communicates with wallet applications installed on the user's device. It works similarly to WalletConnect but is designed specifically for Solana's transaction model.

The React Native SDK provides hooks and providers that mirror the web wallet adapter experience -- useWallet(), useConnection(), and transaction signing all work with familiar patterns. If you have built a Solana web app with wallet-adapter-react, the mobile patterns will feel natural. MWA supports both Phantom and Solflare on mobile, with more wallets adopting the standard.

Saga / Seeker

Solana-native mobile hardware built by Solana Mobile. The Saga and Seeker devices include a secure element for key management, a native dApp Store (bypassing Apple/Google app store restrictions on crypto apps), and deep OS-level integration with Solana. The dApp Store means your app can be distributed without the 30% app store commission and without the restrictions that traditional app stores place on crypto functionality.

Even if you are not targeting Saga/Seeker specifically, understanding the dApp Store is valuable -- it represents a distribution channel for Solana mobile apps that does not exist on other chains. Apps submitted to the dApp Store can use native crypto features (token gating, NFT rewards, direct token payments) without the limitations imposed by Apple and Google.
